Meet our Staff
Richard Newcom, Pastor
Richard is originally from Marion, Kentucky. He has a bachelor's degree from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He has a Masters of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He has pastored for over 25 years in Texas and Illinois. He has been the pastor at WABC since April of 1999. He enjoys running and working in his yard. He and his wife Lana have two children, Sarah and Aaron.
Patrick & Amanda Oliger, Youth Directors
Patrick and Amanda have been on staff here since February 2009. They head up the Youth Ministry at our church. Both have been very active members in our church serving in teaching roles, on the drama team, audio/visual, choir and in many other roles over the years. They live in Wood River with their two children, Andrew and Alizabeth.
Jan Timmins, Minister of Music
Jan received her teaching degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, IL. She is currently a music teacher at East Alton Middle Schools. As Music Director at Whitelaw Avenue Baptist Church, she directs the Adult Choir, Children's Choir and works with the Pastor and Worship Leader to make the Worship Service an uplifting experience. She also serves as the church organist and is a member of the Praise Team.
Rachel R. Weihrauch, Administrative Assistant
Rachel has served as Administrative Assistant since October 2006. She oversees the daily operation of the Church Office and performs the many duties that are required to assist the Pastor, staff and other workers in our Sunday School and other Church Ministries. Rachel, her husband Tim, and daugher Amalie live in Wood River.
